History

The Okavango Delta is believed to have formed over millions of years as the Okavango River deposited sediment and created a vast wetland system. The region has been inhabited by various groups of people for thousands of years, including the San and the Bantu-speaking tribes. In the 19th century, European explorers and traders began to arrive in the area, and in the 20th century, the region became a popular destination for tourists and game hunters.

Food

The cuisine of Botswana is largely based on meat, particularly beef and goat, as well as sorghum, maize, and other grains. Traditional dishes include seswaa, a slow-cooked beef stew, and pap, a type of porridge made from maize meal. Visitors to the Okavango Delta can also enjoy fresh fish from the delta's waterways.
