History

The Eiffel Tower, named after its designer Gustave Eiffel, was built in 1889 for the Exposition Universelle, a world's fair held in Paris. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest man-made structure in the world, standing at 324 meters (1,063 ft). The tower was initially criticized by some for its unconventional design, but it has since become one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.

Paris is known for its food scene, with a wide variety of traditional French cuisine available. Some popular dishes include escargots (snails), foie gras (goose liver), coq au vin (chicken in red wine), and crème brûlée (burnt cream).
